Plastic Surgery in Asia
Hollywood has conquered not only the West but also the Asian world, and so has influenced local plastic aesthetic surgery. Many young women and men are impressed by the American actors and look at the stars as their model. It is no wonder that more and more Asian women want to look like Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman or Jennifer Anderson. Rounder eyes and a narrower face are among the top requests of the plastic cosmetic surgeons in Asia.
In South Korea the Western ideal of beauty has prevailed in particular. Most Koreans aspire to have a pretty face with large eyes, distinctive features and a narrow form. But only very few Asians are born with this type of look. More and more Koreans look to a medical specialist for plastic and cosmetic surgery to get closer to that ideal. The market of plastic aesthetic surgery in South Korea is booming. The capital Seoul alone has more than 4,000 beauty clinics.
Eyelid surgery is one of the most sought after beauty interventions in South Korea. The eyelid folds operation helps Asians acquire Western looking eyes. Eyelid treatment is already a routine procedure, as common as breast enlargement is in Germany. For example, a Korean film director noted that there are very few Asian actresses with natural eyes. Looking for a protagonist for a historical epic, he had a very difficult time finding an actress that fit visually.
In addition to big eyes many Koreans want Western face shapes. Many Asians want to have more distinct contours and a narrower face. For this reason, chin operations are one of the most sought-after aesthetic interventions in South Korea in addition to the eyelid folds operation. Also popular are breast augmentations to enhance the bust size in the very delicate builds of the Asian female. It is not surprising that breast augmentations, eyelid wrinkle treatments and chin operations belong to the top beauty interventions in Korea. Many Asians assume higher chances of marriage and better employment opportunities with such a Western look.
